Musical Notes:

“Beginner’s Mind” is a song by the band, Bright Eyes, an American indie rock band led by Conor Oberst.  This song is from their newest album, The People’s Key.

“Under the Milky Way” is a song by The Church, an Australian band.  The song was released in 1988.  It features a 12-string progressive guitar riff, and a solo that is often mistaken for a bagpipe.  It’s actually an EBow or Electronic bow.  It is a hand-held, battery-powered electronic device for playing the electric guitar.  Instead of having the strings hit by the fingers or a pick,  they are moved by the electromagnetic field created by the device, producing a sound reminiscent of using a bow on strings.  This song was also featured in the 2001 film, Donnie Darko.

The Asteroids Galaxy Tour” a Danish pop band consisting of vocalist Mette Lindberg and producer Lars Iversen.  Their song “Golden Age” was used for an international ad campaign for Heineken beer, as well as Myer, Australia’s largest department store chain.  It was also used to promote the television series Mad Men.  It’s a catchy tune!
