I’ve been so busy that I’ve skipped over the musical notes for the past few assignments.  Here’s some quick info to get you (and me) caught up!

“Germs” is the title of a song by the band Yeasayer based in Brooklyn.  The song is from their album, All Our Cymbals, released in 2007.  They describe their music as  “Middle Eastern-psych-snap-gospel.”  I’m not sure what the “snap” is but I think the rest makes sense.  Anyway, here’s a clip:

“Baby Got Back” is the 1992 song by Sir-Mix-A-Lot from his album, Mack Daddy.  It kind of amazes me that this song is still so popular…18 years later!  Gaby did a fantastic remix of it for the talent show!  Go GABY!  Anway, the song has an infectious beat and ridiculous lyrics…you just can’t go wrong.  Starting with a dialogue between two Valley girls, “Oh my God, Becky!  Look at her butt!  It is so big.  She looks like one of those rap guys’ girlfriends…” the song continues with over the top lyrics about the female gluteus maximus.

“Dark Matter” is a song by Andrew Bird, from his 2007 album, Armchair Apocrypha.  He is one of favs and he has already been featured a previous homework…Imitosis.  Here’s a live version of the song:

“The State I Am In” is a song by the Scottish band, Belle and Sebastian, from their 1996 album, TigerMilk.  They have also been featured in a homework assignment earlier this year….. Rollercoaster Ride.  Anyway, here’s the sample:
